Flower Power

Navy Pier hosts annual Chicago Flower and Garden Show

While Mother Nature is still trying to decide if she should punish us with more snow or if she might grant us a week or two of spring before taking it away yet again, the seasons are definitely changing at Navy Pier this weekend with the opening of the annual Chicago Flower and Garden Show

Saturday, March 7 through Sunday, March 15, the Festival Halls A and B at Navy Pier will be blooming with more than 20 lush gardens filled with exotic flowers and plants intended to inspire the green- and the not-so-green-thumbed. Learn from gardening seminars and garden gourmet culinary demonstrations, admire a photography garden filled with photographs taken by local amateur photographers and make a few purchases at the Garden Marketplace of more than 100 exhibitors.

If you're planning a wedding or a party, you won't want to miss the ''Tablescapes'' section of the show, filled with floral table setting ideas and decorating tips.

Show hours are 10 a.m.-8 p.m., Monday-Saturday, and until 6 p.m. on Sundays. Adult admission is $14 weekends, $12 weekdays. Tickets for children 12 and under are $5 every day. Order tickets online now by visiting chicagoflower.com, or buy them at the door.
