There are certainly a lot of reasons to forgo the Taste of Chicago: extreme heat, massive crowds, insanely expensive prices for tiny portions. But none of that ever seemed to stop people from going-- until this year. Attendance at the Taste went down by 700,000 visitors from last year; even booking the Steve Miller Band couldn't save it. Were people just so angry that the five vendors who represented the suburbs weren't welcome at the Taste this year that the boycott actually surfaced? [Sun-Times]
