Events For Every Night of the Week

Monday, March 1

Remember that thing called "work" that you have tomorrow? You should probably just give up all hope of showing up on time now.

There's the birthday boy showdown between Art Smith's 50th birthday at World Festival and Phillip Foss's Electric Kool Aid Miracle Berry Acid Test 40th birthday at Pops for Champagne.

And we can't forget the grand opening of Harry Caray's Tavern at Navy Pier. They've rounded up sports icons like Ernie Banks and Ron Kittle to appeal to the dudes, but made sure to grab Desperate Housewives' stud, James Denton to appeal to the ladies. Here's a glimpse of what's to come.

Or keep things low-key with a Goose Island four-course beer dinner at The Gage, where you can finally get around to trying the Green Line Pale Ale if you haven't already (6:00 p.m., $75/person).

Tuesday, March 2
No posers allowed! Rock Bottom's head brewmaster Pete Crowley and assistant brewer Davin Bartosch will be hosting a Real Ale Brewer's Dinner, featuring a six-course dinner paired with six house brews. (6:00 p.m., $35/person, reservations required 312-755-9339).

Then again, you can always fake it at BOKA's free monthly wine tasting, Test Your Palate. The only thing you lose from guessing incorrectly at four free wines and appetizers is your dignity (how much is that worth, really?). And if you win, you stand to gain a $100 gift certificate to BOKA. (6:30-8:00 p.m., free)

Wednesday, March 3

Aw shucks, you shouldn't have! In honor of their 13th anniversary, Hugo's Frog Bar is offering a "Baker's Dozen" oyster special of 13 oysters for $13 -- a steal from the usual cost of $32.50. (March 1 through March 31).

Thursday, March 4
Get schooled in Scotch at LUSH Wines & Spirits' SCOTCH 101 class. Learn everything you need to know about the classic liquor, from history and production to food pairings and impressing your co-workers. Oh, and drinking it, of course. (6:30-8:00 p.m., $35/person).

Check in Friday for your weekend food forecast.
