Last Call for Rock & Roll Cat

"Empty Bottle" bar cat died this week

The Empty Bottle just got emptier.

A black cat that frequented the Ukranian Village rock club for the last 16 years died Tuesday.

Radley, as he was called, was one of two cats named after the reclusive neighbor in Harper Lee's classic "To Kill a Mockingbird." Another cat named Boo disappeared years ago.

In a eulogy, bar owner Bruce Finkelman described the cat's rock & roll lifestyle:

For these last 16 years, you could find Radley roaming the friendly confines of the Empty Bottle. Slinking across the bar to catch a sip of your beverage, or cuddling with you on the couch. He never judged you when you drank, and was always there to lend a furry shoulder. You were never alone when Radley was around. Many a drummer have been reminded that they were playing in Radleys house.

Finkelman will have Radley creamated, the Chicago Tribune reported. An urn holding his ashes will be placed behind the Empty Bottle's bar.
