E. coli Hits Suburban Day Care

Twenty-one kids and one adult have contracted E. coli at a Kindercare facility in an outbreak that began earlier this month.

The Cook County Health Department has mandated all children and adults at theLemont day care center be tested for the bacteria. The center has been allowed to remain open so the children have a place to go and not possibly carry the bacteria to other facilities.

"We've been doing everything possible to prevent the further spread of this," said Beth Daniels, a spokeswoman for the day care.
