The death of a Downer's Grove man who fell to his death down an elevator shaft over the weekend is being considered accidental.
Ames, Iowa police said Robert Pawlak of Downers Grove was in Ames visiting a friend, Michael Foody, and that the two of them had been at a gathering on the seventh floor of an apartment building.
While waiting for the elevator, police say Foody pushed Pawlak into the doors, which gave way.
The elevator had been stopped three floors below, but Pawlak fell between the elevator and the wall, dropping to the bottom of the elevator shaft.
