You've always heard that the best way to try wines is with food, so now's your chance. D.O.C. Wine Bar in Lincoln Park will host a wine dinner with Demetria Estate, a biodynamic winery in California's Santa Ynez Valley, on Thursday, Nov. 13.
Demetria winemaker Michael Roth will lead guests through the dinner featuring a custom menu by D.O.C. chef Andrew Easterday. The meal will consist of five courses paired with various varietals. A Demetria Estate chardonnay will be paired with pan-seared sea scallops, orange-amaretto reduction and bosc pears, while a pinot blanc comes with arugula salad with shaved fennel, granny smith apples, pancetta and whipped gorgonzola. Two pinot noir vintages will be the focus of main courses: A 2006 pinot noir is paired with Alaskan coho salmon, a sherry-mushroom vinaigrette, sauteed spinach and a parsnip puree, while a 2005 pinot noir joins a cassoulet with braised duck, duck confit, assorted sausages and beans. Dessert features chef Easterday's homemade chocolate truffles.
The Demetria Estate wine dinner will take place from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Reserve your $60 seat now by calling D.O.C. at 773-883-5101.
