There's new evidence about how type-two diabetes can affect the brain. A study of nearly 2,000 people found that diabetics, on average, have slower brain function.
And, if they've had type two diabetes for longer than 15 years, it also affects their ability to multi-task and plan. Finally, if the diabetes is left untreated, the memory can also be impaired.
The study, in the American Journal of Epidemiology, suggests that doctors should test and treat impaired brain function as another potential complication of type two diabetes.
