Hometown rapper Common was in the house last weekend for an invite-only show South Loop hot spot The Shrine (2109 S Wabash Ave). The show was the first of four scheduled across the country as part of the Hennessey Artistry Series.

The might mighty Roots crew also tore up the stage, with lead singer Black Thought keeping the crowd on its toes with his nimble rhymes. The group also acted as the house band for the other artists.
