Fall is a lovely time for camping, and if you can't get out of town for some reason, the weekend may be offering just the opportunity you're looking for.
Outfitting company L.L. Bean is bringing a bit of the outdoors to downtown Chicago and inviting area residents to Pioneer Court to experience an urban campsite. The event will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday, Oct. 24 and 25.
In addition to an array of tents that'll be set up around the plaza, participants will have a shot at fly fishing and a chance to talk to various experts offering demonstrations of L.L. Bean's camping and sporting equipment.
The Pioneer Court "Great Urban Outdoors" event is being held by way of celebrating a new L.L. Bean store opening in Skokie on Nov. 7.
"It's very exciting to be expanding in the Illinois market," said Chris McCormick, President and CEO of L.L.Bean. "We have a strong and dedicated customer base here, as well as abundant opportunities for high quality outdoor recreation."
There will be another "Great Urban Outdoors" event in Lincoln Park next weekend, Oct. 31 and Nov. 1.
