Walk the West Loop

Treat your eyes and get some exercise (low-impact) by heading to the Fulton Art Walk this weekend in the West Loop. On Saturday and Sunday from 12-5 p.m., galleries on Fulton Market and Lake Street (between Desplaines and Ashland) will be open to the public. (Art Walk tips: Drink lots of water, check your heart rate periodically, and wear your most comfortable shoes -- unless they look like these, in which case you should consider getting some new shoes.)

Get an early start by heading to the Mars Gallery on Friday, October 2, which hosts pop artist Joe Morris for the first time with a reception from 6-10 p.m. Morris' Website is in serious need of some streamlining -- but don't let that stop you from taking a pre-show look at his "poster paintings," many of which combine references to modern music history or sports (hockey fans will appreciate his rendering of legendary Blackhawks goalie Tony Esposito).
