All athletic competitions at Chicago Public Schools will be canceled on Friday after the Jason Van Dyke verdict, CPS announced on Friday.
According to the organization, all scheduled weekend activities are also canceled, but classes will resume as scheduled on Oct. 9 after the Columbus Day holiday.
Earlier Friday, the De La Salle Institute, located near Guaranteed Rate Field in the city’s Bridgeport neighborhood, announced that its game against Loyola Academy had been cancelled.
Providence Catholic also forfeited its game against Mount Carmel on the city’s South Side in the Woodlawn neighborhood.
Montini High School, located in Lombard, announced that its game against Fenwick has been pushed back to Sunday afternoon as a result of “events in the city of Chicago.”
