Chef Tramonto's French vs. American Wine Tournament

On Thursday, Nov. 6, famed Chicago chef Rick Tramonto of Osteria di Tramonto and Tramonto Steak & Seafood (and Top Chef fame) will host "Battle of the Giants," a re-creation of the legendary Paris Tasting of 1976, a battle royale that pit French wines against their U.S. counterparts. (P.S.: The Yanks stole the show.)

Considering the word on everyone's lips right now is "vote," guests will have the chance to decide the evening's winners. The festivities will start innocently enough with hors d'oeuvres and bubbly, then the fight to the finish begins, moving through four courses (including such dishes as Nantucket Bay scallops and slow-roasted duck breast), each paired with French and American wines of similar styles (a sauvignon blanc will go up against a Sancerre, for example). Can the Americans repeat their victory?

Tramonto's Steak and Seafood's "Battle of the Giants" dinner is $125 per person (tax and gratuity not included). Call 847-777-6575 to make a reservation.
