One can only imagine what pleasures lurk in a restaurant's wine cellar, especially restaurants of the caliber of Shaw's Crab House and Vong's Thai Kitchen. You just might discover your own treasure when both dining destinations host "Thursday Night Cellar Raids" starting this week, March 5, and continuing throughout the month.
Several varietals from a featured winery will be selected to showcase each Thursday. Bottles will be available for $25 each, making the "Thursday Night Cellar Raids" one of the best wine deals in town. Diners can learn about the history of the vineyard, tasting notes on each wine and where to purchase the wines locally by reading printed cards at each table. And, of course, Shaw's and Vong's sommeliers will be on hand to help guests faced with a difficult decision.
The "Thursday Night Cellar Raids" will take place at both locations of Shaw's Crab House (21 E. Hubbard St., 312-527-2722; 1900 E. Higgins Rd., Schaumburg, 847-517-2722) and River North's Vong's Thai Kitchen (6 W. Hubbard St., 312-644-8664).
