A local Twitter feed's tipping off Chicagoans to waiting times and long lines at popular restaurants.
@WaitWatcher, published by The Onion's AV Club, tweets daily about your chances of getting a table at Chicago restos.
The tweets range from stay away warnings ("Hopleaf has a 45-minute wait", "Avec was sleepy about two hours ago, but there's a 30-45 minute wait now") to exhortations to dine now ("15-minute wait at Piece right now. Get going while the gettin's good!"), to frustrated exclamations of defeat, e.g., "Frontera Grill has a 2- to 2.5-hour wait. Oof."
Originally launched in July under the Decider brand, @WaitWatcher's now under the aegis of AV Club.
