Be the Belle of the Matzo Ball

Society of Young Jewish Professionals hosts annual Dec. 24 bash

Are you looking to meet a nice Jewish boy or girl? If so, you just may find one on Christmas Eve.  The 22nd annual ''Matzo Ball'' hosted by the Society of Young Jewish Professionals takes place this Wednesday at Crobar in River West.  According to this article in the Sun Times, the founder of the event expects 1,200 singles to show up for a night of dancing, mingling and music. Matzo Balls will be taking place in 18 other cities across the country from New York to Orlando to Berkeley, California.  Tickets to the Chicago event at Crobar are $30 and can be purchased online or at the door.

The web site boasts that this event has been responsible for sparking 1000 marriage proposals and innumerable friendships.  You don't necessarily have to be Jewish or even single to attend, but the events are targeted toward Jewish singles between the ages of 21 and 49.  So while Christmas revelers are hanging stockings and waiting for St. Nick to show up, folks at the Matzo Ball will be partying until 4 a.m.  Sounds like a pretty good time to us.
