Be a Part of the Action at the Omnimax Film Festival

Remember seeing movies at the Omnimax as a kid? The Museum of Science and Industry's five-story, wrap-around 3D theater transported you to distant lands and made your stomach drop one or twice along the way.

As a kid, there was nothing more exciting.

If you're still a movie buff -- or have kids of your own now -- check out the Omnimax Film Festival on February 21st.

The event is for members of the museum, but it's easy to register. Just enter some basic information and a donation, then pick at least two of the five movies to be shown. (Learn about all five options.)

Quite honestly, watching five hours of 3D movies might make us a little queasy -- but we plan on going late and seeing the classic "Magic of Flight" at 9 p.m. and then staying for the premiere of "Ride Around the World," which takes viewers on a cowboy adventure from Morocco to Argentina.

The event starts at 6 p.m. with "Special Effects," a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to create those amazing action sequences in Hollywood.

Once you're maxed out on Omnimax, keep the movie spirit alive by tuning into the Academy Awards on Sunday.
