Bartlett Man Charged With First-Degree Murder, $1M Bond Set

A Bartlett man was charged with first-degree murder after allegedly shooting a man to death in a spa parking lot in Roselle Friday, authorities said.

According to officials, police responded to reports of shots being fired and a victim being shot at the Bella One Spa in Roselle, around 3:30 a.m. Friday. Authorities said when they arrived at the scene, they found the victim, identified as Kyle A. Gojdas, 29, of Glendale Heights, unresponsive and suffering from gunshot wounds.

Police said Gojdas was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials said files have been charged against Donald R. Pelka, 59, an alleged Bella One Spa customer who initiated a confrontation with employees.

Police say it is alleged that Pelka engaged in a verbal dispute with Gojdas in the parking lot when Pelka took out a handgun, and shot Gojdas twice in the torso.

Pelka appeared in court Saturday where a bond was set at $1,000,000.

He is currently being held in the DuPage County Jail, according to authorities.

Pelka's next court date is scheduled to take place on Oct. 22.

"This senseless act of violence cost an innocent man his life," DuPage County State’s Attorney Bob Berlin said. "My office will make every effort to secure a full measure of justice in the name of Kyle Gojdas. I offer my sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Kyle on their loss.”
