The new sausage and beer restaurant in Wicker Park that Doug Sohn is kinda consulting on (but not really, since no one cares about restaurant storage) finally has a name: Bangers & Lace. Much like restaurants with equally clever names like the Fountainhead, The Shady Lady (recently closed) and The Money Shot, there's a great explanation for the name: it's European!
On one hand, we have "bangers," the common British term for sausages, and then there's the slightly more complicated "lace," from "Belgian lace," referring to the foam residual that produces web-like patterns on the inside of a drained beer glass. This is how we know it will be a fancy beer and sausage restaurant, in addition to keeping an in-house cicerone (beer connoisseur), considering cicerone certification is brand new. [Chicago Mag]
