All Aboard the Holiday Express!

Festive Metra train ride takes revelers to and from two suburban bars.

Even if the monotony of your daily Metra ride to and from work has gotten to you over the years, this is one train trip you won't want to miss. On Sunday, Dec. 14, intrepid travelers can start off their excursion at Durty Nellie's in Palatine for appetizers and libations. Then the group will board the Metra train (rechristened the "Holiday Express" for the evening) at the Palatine train station at precisely 5:24PM. They will be whisked to Crystal Lake, with holiday music and treats along the way for the 30-minute ride.

Once at the destination, revelers will head to Crystal Lake's Duke's Alehouse and Kitchen for more festive fun, including food and an enormous selection of beers. Then it's back on the train at 7PM for the ride back to Palatine and Durty Nellie's. Let's hope you don't get motion sickness.

The "Holiday Express" round-trip train ride, plus food and beers at both destinations, costs $35 per person. Reserve your spot at 847-358-9150.
