Rustle up your best summer chapeau and don't be late for the Mad Hatter Tea Party, a wonderfully eccentric event taking place at the elegant Palm Court at the Drake Hotel this Friday, July 31. The whimsical festivities will feature the court's traditional tea service along with a memorable display of hats.
Guests are encouraged to don their favorite warm-weather bonnets to this tea party inspired by the infamous "Alice in Wonderland" character. Prizes will be awarded to the most unique headwear, and there will also be an informal showcase of hats created by renowned British milliner Joy Scott.
The Palm Court's gracious three-tiered tea service takes place from 1-5 p.m., with finger sandwiches and desserts accompanied by live harp music. There will be showings of Joy Scott's hats at 1:30-2:15 p.m. and at 3:30-4:15 p.m., so if you're in the market for a new chapeau, plan accordingly.
