8/14: Elate at the Hotel Felix

The Elate opens, tasty beats at Juicy and a burlesque revue for the ages

ON TOP OF THE WORLD: The eco-chic Hotel Felix opened back in the spring, leaving foodies to wonder when Elate, the hotel property's eclectic American restaurant with chef Randal Jacobs (formerly of DeLaCosta) at the helm, would debut. Well, the wait is over -- you can now enjoy such savory dishes as smoked spring chicken with corn panna cotta and pea shoots in comfortable yet contemporary surroundings featuring reclaimed materials, an eye-catching bar design and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Clark Street.

KICK OUT THE JAMS: At Juicy Wine Co. tonight, Aaron Dae and Derek Foreal will be spin the beats from 9 p.m. all the way until 2 a.m., while patrons guzzle $5 glasses of housemade sangria, $6 house wines and $7 vodka cocktails.

KNOCK YOUR SOCKS OFF: This isn't your granddaddy's burlesque show. Get a good seat tonight at the Music Box Theatre for "Belles and Whistles," a skin-baring revue featuring Chicago's own sexstress Michelle L'amour, Nadine Dubois from Minneapolis, Tatah DuJor from Key West and more than a dozen dancers shaking what their mommas gave them. 12 a.m., $15
