In a time of bitter cold and economic collapse, we all need something to make us laugh, right? How about something to make us chuckle while making a difference for others? Now that's just gravy. Second City is hosting its 7th annual "The Second City That Never Sleeps: Letters to Santa" – 24 consecutive hours of improvisation by Second City performers. The performance features special guest artists, and the proceeds provide presents for needy children. The show begins Tuesday, Dec. 9 at 9 p.m., concluding the following evening, Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 9 p.m. A special performance by Wilco's Jeff Tweedy closes out the show.
These Second City improvisers, along with alumni of The Second City, are hilarious on any given night, so imagine how utterly bizarre they're going to be after the sleep deprivation sets in. The audience will also enjoy performances by Robbie Fulks, The Breeders, Nina Nastasia, Babyco, Tullymonster and UCB's ASSSCAT. More special acts will be announced the days leading up to the event; the current performance schedule is below:

1 a.m. (Dec. 10) Nina Nastasia
