Authorities said the body of Vasudeva Kethireddy, of Rolling Meadows, was found Friday, nearly two months after he was reported missing

Two men have been charged with murder in the death of a suburban grandfather whose body was discovered in a sewer Friday, nearly two months after he was reported missing, according to Chicago police.

Elijah Green, 25, and Tony Green, 22, were arrested on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, in the 6200 block of South May Street where they both lived, Chicago police said in a statement. [[494782541, C]]

Authorities said the two were arrested in connection with the death of 76-year-old Vasudeva Kethireddy, of Rolling Meadows, who was last seen on Aug. 4.

Investigators found Kethireddy's body Friday in a sewer in that same block of the Englewood neighborhood, near the location where his car was discovered in the weeds behind an abandoned home days after he went missing. [[494660711, C]]

Kethireddy owned multiple properties in the area, and was collecting rent money from tenants in his buildings when he disappeared, police and family members said.

At around 10:30 a.m. Friday, Kethireddy's decomposed body was discovered in the sewer and his cause of death was determined to be strangulation, according to Chicago police. [[490419071, C]]

Elijah Green and Tony Green were taken into custody after police said investigators determined one or both men choked Kethireddy to death.

The men were each charged with one felony count of first-degree murder, Chicago police said.

Further details were not immediately available. The men were scheduled to appear in bond court on Monday.
