You don’t need to be in Chicago to experience high quality art this summer. Located less than one hour west of the city, the picturesque streets of Downtown St. Charles are home to the award-winning St. Charles Fine Art Show. Celebrating its 21st anniversary, this year’s show will take place from May 25–26.

The highly regarded show features the work of over 100 juried artists from around the country working in an array of mediums including watercolor, oil, sculpture, photography, jewelry, ceramics, fiber, wood, mixed media and glass. View high-end Murano Glass & Fine Art Glass Sculptures in front of the Municipal Building (2 E Main St.) and enjoy hands-on art activities for all ages located in Fox Island Square (corner of Ilinois St. and 1st St.). Enjoy live music both Saturday and Sunday and don't forget to speak with the artists, who will happily walk you through their work.

All art exhibited is available for sale at the two-day outdoor event. Except, that is, for Paint the Pavement – A Chalk Fest! Held adjacent to the First Street Plaza on the western banks of the Fox River, this outdoor art festival features more than 20 artists who meticulously create detailed chalk and pastel paintings on asphalt and concrete. View the work in all stages of progress from layout and design to the amazing finished creations.

Not only is the art show worth the drive, but so is the town. Boasting outstanding architecture and historic significance, St. Charles has long been a destination for the arts, dining, entertainment, outdoor and water recreation, shopping and festivals. Enjoy cafes and independent bookstores, scenic parks and antique markets, not to mention an array of cuisine, from modern Mexican to farm-to-table fare, plus craft beer and cocktails at one of downtown’s many bars and live music venues.

The St. Charles Fine Art Show has built a reputation on its diverse offering of high-quality art, and it attracts an audience of art lovers and buyers who come from the entire Chicago-land area and beyond.
