New Dove Campaign for Shaped Bottles Gets Backlash on Twitter

The campaign has been in line with Dove's "Real Beauty" campaign portraying and celebrating the diversity of women

Dove debuted six body wash bottles in different shapes and sizes as part of the company's latest campaign to celebrate women and their bodies.

But rather than celebrate the campaign, social media handed Dove a backlash.

The bottles came in tall, short, round, curvy and straight with a slight, curvy shape. Dove said the unorthodox shapes were in line with its decade long "Real Beauty" campaign portraying and celebrating the diversity of women everywhere.

"Each bottle evokes the shapes, sizes, curves and edges that combine to make every woman their very own limited edition," Dove said in an online statement."They’re one of a kind–just like you. But sometimes we all need reminding of that."

The statement went on to says its own research revealed that "one in two women feels social media puts pressure on them to look a certain way. Thankfully, many women are fighting with us to spread beauty confidence."

Not everyone was fond of the campaign. Some mocked it for being unrealistic:

Others were a bit more practical and showed concern about their bathroom space:
