Rapper Chief Keef Taken Into Custody

Teen violates terms of probation by holding gun in video

The party is over for the time being for South Side teen rapper Chief Keef.

The rapper, whose real name is Keith Cozart, was taken into custody on for a probation violation during a hearing in juvenile court Tuesday afternoon.

Cozart, 17, was on probation for pointing a gun at police officers in 2011.

Cozart violated his probation by holding a weapon on a gun range during a video shoot for Pitchfork Media. Pitchfork pulled the video off of its web site, and had been fighting efforts to turn over the footage.

Over the past year, the rapper has managed to sign a major record deal and released a full-length CD in December, but he's also come under fire for joking on Twitter about the shooting death of an 18-year-old rival rapper, Joseph "Lil JoJo" Coleman.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled for Thursday.
