Royal Snub? Michelle Obama Not Yet Invited to Prince William, Kate Middleton Wedding

“Marriage is a personal private thing, they should invite who they want to invite”

The first lady may be the last to score an invite to Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding.

“No, no I’m not going to go,” Michelle Obama said on “Live! With Regis and Kelly” on Wednesday. “I wasn’t invited.”

The Obamas reportedly have not met the couple. There is a precedent for a royal invite, according to ABC News. In 1981, then first lady Nancy Reagan attended the wedding of Williams’ parents, Prince Charles and Princess Diana, ABC reported.

Elton John, who sang at Princess Diana’s funeral, has also said he does not think he’ll be invited to her son’s wedding.

During a visit to Buckingham Palace in April 2009, Michelle Obama famously breached royal protocol by putting her arm around Queen Elizabeth, though her majesty did not seem to mind.

With Prince William and Middleton’s Save the Dates already sent out via fax, Michelle Obma said she'd still attend the April 29 nuptials, if wanted.

“Marriage is a personal private thing, they should invite who they want to invite,” she told Regis and Kelly.
