The second-half of Jon Stewart's interview with Fox News' Bill O'Reilly covered a handful of contentious issues as the conservative pundit faux-vetted the comedian for a spot on an imaginary O'Reilly-Stewart ticket.
"You're a Jewish guy, right?" O'Reilly asked, pushing Stewart to share his personal views on the dangers of Iran. "I believe Ahmadinejad, he wants to drive you and all of the other Jewish people into the sea."
Stewart's answer -- "I cannot control that."
The comedian-turned-faux news anchor's appearance on "The O'Reilly Factor" aired in two parts, bringing the two entertainers together for the first time in more than a year.
The discourse between the two hosts was surprisingly more civil than a regular viewer of either show would have imagined.
Gawker joked, "After last night's light sparring we were ready for the main event. We wanted Jon Stewart to kill Fox News, or O'Reilly to kill Jon Stewart. WE WANTED BLOOD."
The closest thing to spitfire came as Stewart shared his distaste for how the United States has dealt with terrorism fears.
"I'll tell you what we can't do," Stewart said. "Our strategy for battling terrorism can't be that you overthrow a government and then make the United States military commit 150,000 troops to those lands until they can someone stabilize the government long enough so you can prevent 10 people from plotting destruction in a basement."
As for the chance to see O'Reilly and Stewart campaigning together? Don't hold your breath -- Stewart isn't having any of it.
"I'm not going to be your VP because I know what that's going to be. I get one job and that's to light the White House menorah."
Stewart's last and only appearance on the program was in September 2004. O'Reilly, on the other hand, has appeared three times on "The Daily Show" -- last taking a seat in Stewart's guest chair in November 2008.
