“Twilight,” Bullock, Depp Win Top Honors at People's Choice Awards

Fans vote for favorites in movies, film, TV and music

Teen vampires made a killing at this year’s People’s Choice Awards, but veteran stars Sandra Bullock and Johnny Depp snagged top honors too.

"The Twilight Saga," "True Blood" and "The Vampire Diaries" all sucked up the most Internet votes for Wednesday’s televised awards show on CBS.

"Twilight" won four trophies, including favorite movie, franchise and on-screen team for heartthrobs Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner, who also picked up the breakout male actor award.

Another Taylor, country sensation Taylor Swift took home her latest awards show trophy for favorite female artist.

Campy vampire HBO fable "True Blood" got the nod for favorite TV obsession and the soapy supernatural CW series "The Vampire Diaries" won favorite new TV drama.

Bullock, who is receiving heavy Oscar buzz for her role in "The Blind Side," was named the people's favorite movie actress. Her film "The Proposal" also won best comedy.

"I've had two wonderful experiences this year, and I think most actresses will tell you if you had one in five years you'd be lucky," Bullock told reporters after the awards show, Reuters reported.

Sacha Baron Cohen, appearing as himself and not as his alter-egos Borat or Bruno, presented Johnny Depp with a special award as favorite movie actor of the decade.

“I sincerely thank you all for bestowing upon me all your great treasures,” Depp told the audience.

Other winners in movie categories included Jackman as favorite action star and "Up" for favorite family movie.

Queen Latifah, who returned as host of the fan-favorite ceremony for the fourth consecutive year, kicked off the show at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles with a jazzy name-dropping number.

Hugh Jackman, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Ashton Kutcher and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres were also on hand to accept their awards.

Pop diva Mariah Carey, one day after giving a widely-mocked giggly acceptance speech at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, upped a game a bit when accepting an award for favorite R&B star.

She still needed hubby Nick Canon to hold her long form-fitting dress to keep from tottering over as she braved stairs to accept the award.

“This dress is a drama,” she said after thanking Canon.

In talking to reporters backstage at the show, Carey blamed her earlier loopy performance in Palm Springs, in part, on having drank a bit too much alcohol on an empty stomach and on hanging out with "Precious" director Lee Daniels.

“There’s a time for celebration and a time for not, but really, technically, it’s kind of like a party atmosphere…we had splashes of champagne, and I love Lee [Daniels] but he’s a bad influence,” she said, Reuters reported.

Other People's Choice winners in categories spanning movies, TV and music included "Inglourious Basterds" as favorite independent movie and Lady Gaga as favorite pop and breakout music artist.
