On the hit medical drama "House," the titular doctor is a virtuoso of sorts, a skilled and intuitive interpreter of the maladies of the human condition, a fixer of the proverbial blues that can bring a man down.
It's only fitting then that the actor who portrays that mad genius will get the change to explore the blues in real life, with the help of a backing band.
Hugh Laurie, who has played the acerbic Gregory House since 2004, recently signed a deal with Warner Music Entertainment to record an album of New Orleans-style blues, according to the New York Daily News.
"I am drunk with excitement at this opportunity," Laurie said in a statement. "I know the history of actors making music is a checkered one, but I promise no one will get hurt."
