Tiger Woods on Romantic Lindsey Vonn Photos: “We Wanted to Limit the Stalkerazzi”

The golf star explains why he and his ski champ girlfriend chose to come clean about their relationship

There was a method to Tiger Woods and Lindsey Vonn's madness when they posted a handful of cozy pics on Facebook this week.

"It's very simple," Woods explained during a press conference at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, where he's making his 17th appearance.

"We're very happy where we're at, but also we wanted to limit the stalkerazzi and all those sleazy websites that are out there, following us."

Lindsey Vonn made some pretty funny jokes about Tiger's sex scandal back in the day

The valiant effort of course didn't stop photogs from trailing Woods to his kids' soccer game, where he met up with ex-wife Elin Nordegren and Vonn waited for him in the car. But the reigning No. 2 golfer in the world has had experience with such things, and his reasoning goes further than just wanting to keep photographers away from himself and his Olympian girlfriend.

"Also, I've had situations where it's been very dangerous for my kids," the father of two added, asserting that he and Vonn "basically devalued" the first photos of them as a couple by posting their own online.

"Unfortunately that's just the way it is in our society right now, and we felt like it was the best thing to do and are very happy about it," Woods said.

Vintage Tiger Woods confidence, right?

So no wonder he doesn't plan on asking the world's current No. 1 golfer (a position Woods says he is determined to retake in the near future) Rory McIlroy for advice on being half of a sports power couple. McIlroy is dating Danish tennis player Caroline Wozniacki.

"Do I plan it?" he repeated when a reporter asked the question today. "No."
