The Web's Grumpiest Cat Gets a Movie Deal

Grumpy Cat is unimpressed with her fame.

The Internet’s grumpiest feline is about to be the cat’s meow in Hollywood.

Grumpy Cat, who is known to her owners as Tardar Sauce, just inked her first movie deal, according to several reports. Her managers have teamed up with Broken Road Productions to create a Garfield-like feature film where Grumpy herself will be able to talk, Deadline.com reported.

“This started off as a picture of a cat, but rare is an image that evokes that much comedy,” said producer Todd Garner. “You read all of the memes and the comments, and one is funnier than the next. We think we can build a big family comedy around this character.”

Will Ferrell and Jack Black are attached to the project as the film's main characters, according to  Deadline.com.

Grumpy Cat’s meme -- her famous frowning mug, usually accompanied by a snarky comment about humanity -- has rendered her the most influential cat in 2012 by MSNBC and the year’s most important meme by Mashable. She was also voted Meme of the Year at the 2013 Webby Awards.

The famous feline has over 870,000 fans on Facebook and boasts 10 million YouTube followers.

And as if being grumpy and famous wasn’t enough to keep her busy, The Wall Street Journal reports that Grumpy Cat is headed to New York this week to promote her new book "Grumpy Cat: A Grumpy Book: Disgruntled Tips and Activities Designed to Put a Frown on Your Face"
