Taylor Swift Donation Helps Set New HuskyTHON Record

Taylor Swift helped UConn students exceed their fund-raising goal at this year's HuskyTHON and set a new record.

The pop star donated $1,989 to support students participating in the dance marathon. Students danced all night to help raise money for the Children's Miracle Network and Connecticut Children's Medical Center.

According to a tweet from the HuskyTHON's Twitter account, Swift made the donation to UConn student Igor Lekontsev, who also got to Facetime with Swift on Saturday morning. Lekontsev, an accounting major, posted the image on his social media page.

Lekontsev told "The Daily Campus" that he is a huge Swift fan and that it had been a longtime goal of his to get in contact with her. They finally connected on Saturday when Swift surprised him with the donation.

Swift's $1,989 donation is in honor of her latest album "1989," which just won Album of the Year at this year's Grammy Award.

HuskyTHON members raised $716,394, exceeding their goal of $700,000. Last year, they raised $560,000.
