Suddenly, Robin Thicke and Miley Cyrus' somewhat random duet performance last night at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards makes a little more sense.
Although the "Blurred Lines" singer hinted at collaborating with the pop star last month, it still seemed a little odd to pair the two up on stage during the show. But after watching Thicke's new music video, it seems like their performance was also a way to promote the clip's release today.
Thicke debuted the NSFW (seems to be his style) video for "Give It 2 U" featuring 2 Chainz and Kendrick Lamar, which was also performed during the VMAs, and it had Miley written all over it.
VIDEO: Miley shows off some serious skin
The clip is jam-packed with twerkers, foam fingers (as also seen in the "Blurred Lines" video, so apparently that's a Thicke thing now), Thicke's Beetlejuice-inspired suit and even dancers sticking their tongues out--but there is no Miley in sight.
However, there is one special cameo by none other than the singer's son with wife Paula Patton, Julian, and that 3-year-old has got some moves.
Thicke and Cyrus' bump-and-grind at the VMAs quickly became a hot topic, and according to the Queen of Twerk herself, her half-naked escapades "had 306,000 tweets per minute," which, as she tweeted, is "more than the blackout or Superbowl! #fact."

Additionally, a rep for Thicke tells E! News that an Us Weekly report stating that the chart-topper was "bummed" by his VMAs showing with Miley "is false."
