Meek Mill, Fans Dance in Philadelphia Street Following Prison Release

The rapper known as Meek Mill was released from a Philadelphia jail Tuesday afternoon after serving five months for violating parole in a 2009 drug case.

Meek Mill, aka Robert Williams, danced in the streets of his North Philadelphia neighborhood following his release with fans who were on-hand to welcome him home.

Mill was probation for about five years following a drug and gun case conviction. In July, Judge Genese Brinkly sentenced the rapper to three-to-six months in prison for a parole violation after failing a drug test and appearing to use a gun in a music video.

During his 5-month sentence, Mill was kept in protective custody at Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility. Along with his parole violation sentence, he was ordered to take anger management classes following a parole office "tantrum" over travel restrictions.
