"Law & Order" director Jason "Jace" Alexander has been arrested on child pornography charges, according to police.

Alexander, 51, was arrested Wednesday in Westchester County and charged with one count of promoting a sexual performance by a child and one count of possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child, police said.

Officials allegedly found digital pornography files on computers and external hard drives at Alexander’s Dobbs Ferry home. The files showed children younger than 16 years of age engaged in child pornography, police said.

Alexander was arraigned in Dobbs Ferry Village Court and held on $10,000 cash bail. He is due in court on November 19. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of seven years in state prison.

Alexander has directly nearly three dozen episodes of "Law and Order" since the mid-1990s. He is also known for his work on "Rescue Me" and "Carry Me Home." He and his wife have three children.

Attorney information was not immediately available.

Alexander’s representative did not return a request for comment from E! News. The Director’s Guild of America, where Alexander serves as vice president, said they had no comment.
