Adam Levine Plays Coy About People's Sexiest Man Alive Rumor

Will Adam Levine grace the cover of People's Sexiest Man Alive issue? It makes us wonder.

So the musician shouldn't have been too surprised during his appearance on Friday's "Today" show to field questions about a rumor setting the Internet ablaze that he's in the running for the honor.

When asked by co-host Savannah Guthrie about possibly being short listed by the magazine, the 34-year-old Levine offered a rather bashful response.

"I don't believe you," he said, embarrassed.

When the anchor then wondered whether he'd be excited about it and if it would be a "good resume builder," the Maroon 5 man blushed and replied, "Noooo."

"No," he added. "It would be a lot of things. It's an interesting idea. I don't know."

Guthrie then questioned whether he was holding anything back, but Levine demurred, "I know nothing."

"I'm just looking to see if you seem like you're telling the truth," she said.

Added Adam: "I don't know. How can you tell if people are lying or telling the truth....can you read me?"

"I don't think so," answered Savannah.

While she was at it, Guthrie used her own recent engagement as an excuse to politely try and pry a wedding date out of Levine, who popped the question in July to Victoria's Secret Angel Behati Prinsloo. But the ever-private singer didn't reveal much.

"I see what you're doing. It's okay," he replied. "We have a kind of ish' time. There's no actual date."

Levine also dished on his hopes of stopping the Team Blake train on the fifth season of "The Voice," noting his fellow coach Blake Shelton has won the last three seasons (Adam won the inaugural edition).

"He's very charming and always constantly wins and it's really getting boring. We don't like it," said the Grammy winner, noting "anybody but Blake" is his, CeeLo Green and Christina Aguilera's motto.
