Will Ferrell Doesn't Mind Being Overpaid, and Neither Would You

"Land of the Lost" star tops Forbes list

Go ahead, call Will Ferrell overpaid. He doesn't mind.

Forbes magazine did just that, making the case that Ferrell's pay and the total box office take for movies he's in is the narrowest spread among big stars. Ferrell, whose animated movie "Megamind" ruled the box office until the latest Harry Potter intsallment came out, says being overpaid isn't all that bad.

"Isn't that the whole point?" Ferrell asked People magazine at the launch of 7-Eleven's "Coffee Cup With A Cause." "I mean, aren't we all striving to be overpaid?"

Ferrell's had plenty of hits, but last summer's "Land of the Lost," which cost $100 million to make and earned back just $65 million, along with putrid reviews, seems to have hurt his standing. But he's not trying to be overpaid.

"Apparently I'm living the American dream without even trying," Ferrell, 43, said with a chuckle.

In the former "SNL" funnyman's defense, the Christmas classic "Elf" made $220 million and "Talladega Nights" brought in $162 million. And if you don't think he's funny, just search his name and "cowbell" on YouTube.
