Chris Klein Faces Jail Time for DUI

“American Pie” star Chris Klein will spend four days in jail if convicted of his second drunk driving offense, the Los Angeles City Attorney’s office said on Monday.

Police formally charged Klein, 31, with driving under the influence with a prior conviction and for driving with a .08 blood alcohol level or higher, People reported.

Beyond the mandatory sentence, Klein may also be required to pass a breath test each time he starts a car in the future, according to the magazine.

Police arrested the actor June 16 in Los Angeles after noticing his car weaving across freeway lanes. The actor's blood alcohol level was three times the legal limit when he was pulled over, police said.

In 2005, Klein was convicted of his first DUI.

Klein checked himself into a Utah rehab facility last week, with his spokesperson calling for “privacy” as Klein deals with "his addiction."

"After recent events, Chris was forced to take a clear look at a problem he has been trying to deal with himself for years,” Jaime Primak, told People. “He understands now that he can not beat this disease alone."

Klein faces arraignment on July 9.
