While a sequel to the 1987 classic has been rumored for quite some time, Douglas has never been confirmed to reprise his role as cutthroat businessman Gordon Gekko.
However, when Access Hollywood caught up with the actor on Monday night, Douglas revealed the announcement might not be far off.
"There's been serious discussions. We're probably going to do a 'Wall Street 2' — maybe towards the end of the summer," Douglas told Access at the premiere of his new comedy, "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past."
"But it's probably about a week away from announcing it with the elements coming together," he added.
According to an online summary of the film, tentatively titled "Money Never Sleeps," the sequel would see Gekko re-emerging from prison only to find a much harsher financial world than when he left.
"It would be cool," Douglas told Access. "Good timing for it."
