John Mellencamp and Wife Break Up

Rock and Roll Hall of Famer John Mellencamp and his wife, model Elaine Irwin, have split up after 18 years of marriage, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"John and Elaine Mellencamp are proud of their 20 years together and are very happy with their accomplishments both as parents and as a family," a representative for the couple told The Hollywood Reporter in a statement. "They will continue to raise their two children in Indiana but have decided to call it a day as a couple."

According to People magazine, the couple met in 1991 when Irwin was the cover model for Mellencamp’s album "Whenever We Wanted." They later married in Indiana at a log cabin that belonged to Mellencamp’s uncle.

Mellencamp has been previously married twice. The rocker recently released his latest album, "No Bettter Than This," and is slated to go on tour beginning Feb. 3 in Lowell, Mass.
