Jake Gyllenhaal on Scene of South LA Shooting

Actors Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena were at the crime scene where an alleged gang member was shot by rival gang members in South Los Angeles during an anti-gang event, police said today.

The man was hospitalized in stable condition with graze wounds to his lip and an arm at Van Ness Park in the 5700 block of 2nd Avenue, near Slauson Avenue, at about 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Los Angeles police Sgt. Angela McGee of the 77th Street Station said.

Gyllenhaal and Pena were on patrol with Los Angeles police officers overnight, McGee said.

The two actors are in pre-production for ''End of Watch,'' a film that focuses on the long-term friendship between two police officers, according to the website IMDB.com.

The shooting reportedly happened at a Summer Night Lights anti-gang event. The program was designed to reduce violence during the summer by keeping public parks open for gang-free activity, free food and programs, according to the website mayor.lacity.org.
