Injuries to know about

While the team didn’t practice on Wednesday, their estimated injury report featured bad news about two key offensive stars.

According to the Bears, wide receiver Rome Odunze would not have practiced Wednesday as he nurses a foot injury. Running back Kyle Monangai, who rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown against the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday, also would not have practiced due to an ankle issue, the team said.

Linebacker Ruben Hyppolite and defensive back Tyrique Stevenson, both of whom missed the Philadelphia game, also would not have practiced.

The team did get some good news for their beleaguered defense however. Linebacker Noah Sewell, who missed last week’s game with an elbow injury, and defensive lineman, who missed the game with a concussion, both would have been full participants on Wednesday.

The team also revealed that linebacker TJ Edwards, who has missed their last four games with hand and hamstring injuries, would have been a limited participant on Wednesday.

Cornerback Jaylon Johnson, who played against the Eagles in his first game action since Week 2 of the season, also would have been a full participant.

Defensive back Kyler Gordon also marked a return to the field against the Eagles last week.

The Bears will have two more injury reports prior to Sunday’s game.

What else to know about the game

The Bears come into the game with a 9-3 record and the top seed in the NFC, marking the first time since the 2006 season that Chicago has been in the top spot in the NFC entering December.

Fans will surely remember that is also the last season that the Bears reached the Super Bowl, but the road to Santa Clara this season still has plenty of miles to cover for the Monsters of the Midway.

The Packers are coming into the game with an 8-3-1 record after beating the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving Day, leaving them just one-half game behind the Bears in the division standings.

To win the game, the Bears are going to have to do something they haven’t done in decades: win back-to-back games at Lambeau Field (they also won at Lambeau at the end of the 2024-25 season).

The last time the Bears were able to win consecutive road games against the Packers was all the way back in 2007 when they won their third straight game at Lambeau over Green Bay.

If they can secure a win, it would not only boost their division lead over the Packers, but it would also give them another NFC win, further cementing their tiebreaker edge over the Los Angeles Rams, who also enter this week at 9-3 on the season.
