Where to Eat Pie in Chicago on Pi Day

Pi Day is more than a celebration of mathematics. In Chicago, it's also a celebration of desserts -- namely, pie.

Here's a rundown of some of the best pie shops and bakeries to buy a sweet treat on Pi Day:

Bang Bang Pie and Biscuits: Enjoy one (or two) of several available flavors on the patio at this Logan Square bakery that specializes in pies. Bang Bang Pie and Biscuits is located at 2051 N. California Ave.

Hoosier Mama Pie Company: With locations in Chicago and Evanston, this classic homemade pie shop reminds eaters of the kind of pie their grandmas used to make. The shop also sells its pies at various coffee shops around the Chicago area, including Dollop Coffee Co and Unicorn Cafe. Hoosier Mama Pie Company is located at 1618 1/2 Chicago Avenue in Chicago and at 749 North Chicago Avenue in Evanston.

First Slice Pie Cafe: All three locations in Ravenswood and Andersonville are celebrating Pi Day with a deal -- buy one slice, get a second slice free. First Slice Pie Cafe is located at 4401 N. Ravenswood Ave., 4664 N. Manor Ave. and 5357 N. Ashland Ave.

Baker Miller Bakery and Millhouse: For a healthier pie option, head to Baker Miller, a self-described grain-centric bake house. On Pi Day, enjoy a citrus meringue or chocolate peanut butter pie. Baker Miller is located at 4610 N. Western Ave. in Lincoln Square.

Blue Sky Bakery and Cafe: Part baker, part nonprofit organization, Blue Sky Bakery will sell pies for $3.14 in honor of Pi Day. Choose from fudge graham, key lime or blueberry lemon pie. Blue Sky Bakery and Cafe is located at 3720 N. Lincoln Ave. in North Center.

Scafuri Bakery: The more than 100-year-old family-owned bakery in Little Italy offers a Pi Day for those who can recite from memory the first 20 digits of pi. Those who successfully complete the challenge get a free slice of pie. Scafuri Bakery is located at 1337 W. Taylor St.

Fritz Pastry: This Lincoln Park bake shop claims it will sell "all the pies in the world" for Pi Day. In reality, customers can choose from apple, blueberry, peach, strawberry rhubarb, pecan, s'mores and banana cream. It may not be all the pies in the world, but the flavor selection is hard to beat. Fritz Pastry is located at 2233 N. Lincoln Ave.
