The free tickets to the rally were sold out within minutes of becoming available on Ticketmaster

Thousands of Blackhawks fans were left disappointed Wednesday after online tickets for Thursday's Stanley Cup rally were snatched up in minutes. NBC Chicago's Regina Waldroup reports. (Published Wednesday, June 17, 2015)

After the free tickets to the Blackhawks rally at Soldier Field sold out minutes after becoming available, the City of Chicago announced it will erect viewing screens outside of the stadium to accommodate more fans.

The screens will be set up in the south parking lot of Soldier Field. The decision to add the screens came in response to the number of complaints from fans who were unable to get tickets into the rally.

At the same time, the city announced the parade route would also expand to allow more fans to experience the celebration. The new route is more than twice as long as the original route.

Tickets to the rally became available at noon Wednesday and could only be reserved online through Ticketmaster. Some fans reported waiting up to 45 minutes for a ticket only to be denied.

Some of those who snagged tickets immediately placed them on third-party sites, like Craigslist, with a pricetag of up to $50 per ticket. Several of those posts have since been removed or taken down.

Tickets were also seen posted on eBay with some asking for nearly $500 for four tickets.

They were given to fans on a first come, first served basis, and individuals were only allowed four tickets each, which would be emailed to print at home.
