Street Closures, Reroutes Begin for Taste of Chicago

Several street closures and CTA reroutes have taken effect in the Loop as set-up continues for the Taste of Chicago, which begins Wednesday in Grant Park.

Columbus Drive is closed from Roosevelt to Monroe, according to the Office of Emergency Management & Communications.

Congress is also closed from Michigan to Columbus, and Jackson is closed from Michigan to Lake Shore Drive.

All the closures will be in effect through July 13, except for the Jackson closures, which last until July 14.

As a result, six CTA bus routes are detoured, including the No. 2 Hyde Park Express, No. 6 Jackson Park Express, No. 10 Museum of Science and Industry, No. J14 Jeffrey Express, No. 26 South Shore Express and No. 28 Stony Island.

Additionally, the entrance ramp at Roosevelt Road from the northbound Dan Ryan Expy. is closed for construction. The southbound entrance ramp remains open.

The Taste of Chicago will open in Grant Park Wednesday and will run through Sunday, according to the city’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events. The festival will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The OEMC recommends that Chicagoans to use public transportation to get around the city during the closures.
