More than 26,000 residents voted for the top items in the “Ultimate Amazon Guide to Chicago,” which is being put together by a local group, the People’s Pitch, in an attempt to woo Amazon into picking Chicago as the location of its much-desired second headquarters.
Locals voted for their favorites in the following categories: culture and entertainment; eat, treat and drinks; neighborhood pride; transportation; education; parks and rec; morning radio or television.
This latest effort comes after Amazon in January narrowed its list of potential cities for the headquarters to 20—including Chicago. The headquarters project promises $5 billion in construction funds and the creation of 50,000 jobs in whichever city the online retail giant picks.
The People’s Pitch is made up of 18 local public affairs and communications firms.
