Most people are familiar with the popular movie “Night at the Museum” where the historic characters come to life after everyone goes home. This fall, a Milwaukee museum has planned to recreate the story--but with a new twist.
The Milwaukee Public Museum's first-ever adult sleepover gives guests an opportunity to experience just how exciting the exhibits can be at night.
“We decided we wanted to start offering more really cool options for adults that either don’t want to spend time with kids at the moment or don’t have kids,” Margaret James educator at the Milwaukee Public Museum said.
The sleepover provides guests with tours, curator chats, films and the freedom to have your ideal museum evening, according to their website.
Appetizer stations will be available throughout the evening along with two drink tickets, a late night snack and continental breakfast with a delicious mimosa. Only adults 21 and over can attend the event.
“We want it to be able to compete with coming out downtown on any other night,” James said.
Milwaukee Public Museum will host the event Sept. 23 with the cost to attend at $115 per person. Groups of 10 adults or more will cost $105. The museum has a maximum capacity of 120 adults to attend.

“We have enough stuff going on that every kind of learner is engaged but also feeling that they aren’t just staring at exhibits and have time to socialize,” James said.
The museum is currently planning for another event of its kind for May 2017
