Millennium Park Free Summer Concert Series Expands to Mondays, Thursdays

Concerts are currently scheduled every Monday and Thursday between June 1 and July 23

Chicagoans will soon be rewarded for enduring a long, cold winter with the newly announced expansion to one of the city's greatest summer series: Millennium Park's free "Downtown Sound" concerts.

The city announced an expansion to the music series this year to include concerts on Thursdays as well as the usual Mondays. The announcement also includes plans to expand the series' musical taste to showcase more contemporary, electronic and world music artists.

The free concerts are scheduled from June 1 through July 23. All of them take place in Millennium Park and begin at 6:30 p.m., unless otherwise noted. See the full line-up below:

  • Monday, June 8: Andrew Belle + Birds of Chicago
  • Thursday, June 11: The London Souls + Eggnoise
  • Monday, June 15: The Mighty Diamonds + Charley Organaire
  • Thursday, June 18: Hayes Carll + Mother Falcon
  • Monday, June 22: Active Child + Matt Ulery
  • Thursday, June 25: Snarky Puppy + Third Coast Percussion
  • Monday, June 29: Poi Dog Pondering + Caroline Smith
  • Thursday, July 2: Antibalas + Sonny Knight and The Lakers
  • Monday, July 6: King Sunny Ade + Mathew Tembo
  • Thursday, July 9 (NOTE: Show begins at 8 p.m.): Judah & the Lion
  • Monday, July 13: Matthew Sweet + In Tall Buildings
